How long does it take to place a dental implant?

The whole process can tell between 3-5months and can take 3-4 appointments.

Step 1: Assessment

At your first appointment, we discover your wants and goals so that we can tailor our process and create a bespoke and comprehensive plan for you.

We want to ensure that your mouth is healthy and suitable for treatment, so we will undertake a detailed examination which will include any required x-rays.

We will take photographs, videos and a digital scan of your teeth.

If we need to extract your tooth prior to placing an implant then another appointment will be made for this.  If no extraction is needed then go to Step 3.

Step 2: Extraction (optional step)

The unrestorable tooth is extracted.  10 weeks will be needed to allow healing and resorption of bone.

Step 3: CBCT Scan

A 3D x-ray will be taken of the area, this will let the implant surgeon know if there is enough bone and where to place the bone.

Step 4: Implant Surgery

The implant is placed into the bone.  It will take 12 weeks for the implant to fuse to the bone.

Step 5: Review and Scan

Once fused and the dentist is happy a scan will be taken of the area and sent to the lab for them to make a crown

Step 6: Fit of crown

After a 2 week wait the crown is fitted to the implant.
