Depending on the tooth is could take from 60mins to 2hours.  We appreciate that this is a long appointment and we encourage our patients to bring some music or an audiobook to listen to.

Do I need a crown or onlay at the end of treatment?

This depends on numerous factors:

  1. Where the tooth is
  2. The extent of the access cavity
  3. If there are any pre-existing restoration present

What we do know is that molar teeth that have a root canal are 6 times more likely to fracture compared to non root treated teeth.  Due to this evidence at Cosmetic Smile & Implant Centre, we would always recommend a crown or onlay on your back teeth.  However, the choice is yours.

It is important to note that we do not advocate leaving infections in the body, in rare circumstances infections can spread to other parts of the body and cause harm.
